---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Problem description: Customers may experience issues when updating to AIX 6100-06-05-1115 Example messages are: 0503-465 installp: The build date requisite check failed for fileset devices.pci.1410bd02.rte. Installed fileset build date of 1119 is more recent than the selected fileset build date of 1115. installp: Installation failed due to BUILDDATE requisite failure Note: Many filesets may report these issues during the update. Environment: Updating from: 6100-03-10-1119, or 6100-04-10-1119, or 6100-05-06-1119 to: 6100-06-05-1115 Circumvention: Option 1: Customer may wait until the next SP is released to update to TL6 Option 2: Customer may attempt to reject current SP. If the reject is completely successful, attempt an update to 6100-06-05-1115. Option 3: Download a customized .toc file from IBM and install the update. To install the customized .toc perform the following steps exactly in order: 1) Download the 6100-06-05 updates from Fix Central at: http://www-933.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/aix/selectFixes?release=6.1&function=release Select the Service pack: 6100-06-05-1115 checkbox and the Technology Level: 6100-06-00-1036 checkbox, which is displayed when the Show/Hide Requisites twistie is activated. Click continue. Download the Service Pack and Technology Level. Total download size is approximately 4.7 Gig. Copy the Service Pack and Technology Level into an empty directory accessible to the system being updated. 2) # ftp public.dhe.ibm.com name: anonymous password: any_string ftp> cd software/server/supporttools/tocfile ftp> asc ftp> get 6100-06-05.new2.toc ftp> bye # Place the 6100-06-05.new2.toc file in the same directory as the Service Pack and Technology Level downloaded from Fix Central. Rename the 6100-06-05.new2.toc file to .toc. Suggest making a copy of the .toc file because if you somehow accidentally rebuild the .toc file, the updates will no longer work. 3) Perform the TL update using the directory containing the Service Pack and Technology Level with the new .toc file. Note: 1) The customer must download the updates from Fix Central, since the filenames must be in U#####.bff format. 2) The customer should not rename any of the update files, or transfer them using any method that will rename the files. 3) The customer cannot add or remove any update files from the downloaded updates. 4) The customer should not rebuild the .toc file. Doing so will undo the changes in the new .toc and the update will not work. 5) This procedure only works with systems running 6100-03-10-1119, 6100-04-10-1119, or 6100-05-06-1119. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
